Script:

"I’m (name) and I live in (your senate district #). I'm urging you to Vote No on the Steering Committee proposal at the December 11th Steering Committee. We have a representative democracy and all of our elected representatives MUST have seats at the table at all times! Reducing the SDEC from 95 to 13 members, in between quarterly meetings, harms all Texas Democrats by denying us representation. If this proposal passes it will reduce our representation in an undemocratic way. We feel that this lack of representation within the Steering Committee will be extremely divisive and cause democrats to doubt our leadership. Why are we following the  Republican playbook?  Nothing About Us Without Us”

  • We want to protect EVERY Democrat's right to democracy and fair representation in the party.
  • Decisions will be made from the top down with this Steering Committee.  Many Constituencies and Senate Districts will lose their representation and seats at the table.
  • The needs of Texans are not one size fits all, therefore our representatives must have a track record of intersectional advocacy for all constituencies.
  • Decisions that affect us will be made without our input ... Nothing About Us Without Us!
